Recent News....
>>> We recently acquired property in the Sod area to build our third fire station. The new site is located on Midway Rd. just south of Cobbs Creek. This new fire station will serve the immediate communities of Sod, Sumerco, Garretts Bend, McCorkle and assist us in providing mutual aid to other departments. We look forward to providing a more efficient emergency response to these communities and lower insurance premiums.
>>> September 2007 marked 44 years of service for the Alum Creek VFD. Our mission has remained the same over the years, to provide the best possible fire/rescue services available to our community and anywhere we are called to go. We strive to continue fulfilling the vision of our founders while implementing new technologies for a safer and more efficient fire department.
Now Accepting Applications....
We are looking for you!
The Alum Creek VFD is currently accepting applications for all types of membership. Please check out the membership section for details on each type of membership available.
Joining a volunteer fire department can be very rewarding and will provide an opportunity for you to make a difference in the community. Volunteers are special people that come from all walks of life but share in common goals.
Most volunteers want to help others and see their own lives grow with the excitement of achieving goals. The Alum Creek VFD needs volunteers for many different positions and activities, you don't have to fight fires to serve on our department. Please check the membership section of our site for more details.
Forest Fire Season...
ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT forest fires. This fall and winter could be the worst fire season in 20 years. Our state experienced record heat and extreme dry conditions this year which we believe could cause serious forest fire sizes. Please follow the burning laws and recommendations of the WV Division of Forestry. Here is a link to their site www.wvforestry.com.
